Well, as you probably see from my Instagram, a lot has happened for our family in the past month! I thought it was time to do an update on this little space of mine. I am going to do my best to pick things up over here, especially since this new baby girl is coming soon and I loved documenting moments with Grayson so I want to continue to do so!
This definitely came out of no where but it was an opportunity that we just couldn’t pass up. Kyle was offered a job in Finance here in North Carolina at the beginning of December. It was a quick turn around as they wanted him to start 4 weeks after the offer was given. We went back and forth for a while, contemplating if Grayson and I should stay behind for a little bit (move back in with my parents) while Kyle got settled so we didn’t feel so rushed. However, in the end we decided we didn’t want to split up. If we were going to take this opportunity, we were going to do it as a family. Kyle and I made a trip down for 2 days, the day after Christmas, to interview daycares and look at houses. We got lucky again and found an amazing in-home daycare and so far she is working out great! We decided to rent for a little bit and explore the area before we invested in our first home, so we found the cutest little townhouse in the perfect neighborhood. It’s walking distance from a whole slew of shops and there are always kids playing outside and families going on walks. It has a great atmosphere! It’s been exactly a month since we moved and we are loving the weather, the people and the overall feeling of it here. We are thinking we made the right choice! :)
I am currently 31 and a half weeks pregnant and I thought I’d just fill out these questions again to make it easy on myself ;)
How far along? 31 weeks and 3 days.
How big is the baby? She’s about 16 inches long now and weighs almost 3 1/2 pounds! (About the size of a coconut according to Baby Center)
Maternity Clothes? If you can call them that. I live in leggings and tunics from Old Navy. Literally, almost everyday. I just got a few maternity shirts from Target and I reallllly need to get a few larger sized work out shirts. Mine are starting to get a little snug and I’m pretty sure everyone at the gym looks at me like I’m crazy every time I go.
Sleep? Sleep is decent right now. I sometimes have a hard time getting to sleep because Maya is doing somersaults in my stomach, but once I’m asleep I usually don’t wake up until morning.
Best moment this week? I’ve been slowwwwly collecting all the baby girl things and it’s so exciting. I’ve never been a huge fan of the color pink but something has come over me since finding out we are having a girl. I am completely drawn to all things pink and floral so that’s pretty much all I have so far. I am also going to try to put some navy blue touches in with all the pink since I am a lover of the navy blues! Can’t wait to share some of my favorite items that I’ve gotten so far! (more posts to come!)
Symptoms? It’s getting harder and harder to do common things. My back gets tired by the end of the day and I get really tired of sitting/leaning (feeling like I’m squishing) on my stomach all day. I sometimes just need to lay down for a little! Maya is kicking and pushing on my stomach so much, all day, everyday. I know it’s a good thing she’s moving a bunch but my goodness she needs to chill sometimes! ;)
Food cravings? I haven’t had a specific craving this pregnancy like I had with Grayson (cereal-specifically fruit loops). I am just constantly hungry. Well, I do eat A LOT of peanut butter and banana sandwiches…. so maybe that’s what I’m craving? LOL
Food aversions? No, I don’t think so. Sometimes my appetite is weird and I can’t figure out what I actually want to eat but nothing is really making me feel sick.
Belly button in or out? It is popping out!
What I miss? Now that we’ve moved to a warmer place, all I want is an ice cold BEER.
What I’m looking forward to? Having this baby!!!! lol
Milestones? We’ve hit the third trimester, I had my first appointment at our new doctor yesterday (and loved him!), we are doing a tour of the hospital next month, and I am getting my diaper bag (for two) together and baby girls room complete. A lot to do in the next 9 weeks! :)
Bump? At this point? I’d hope so! :) See some of my latest photos below!
Oh Grayson, where do I even start with you. You are always surprising me with your go with the flow attitude and hilarious personality. We didn’t know how you’d adjust to the move but you’ve shown us that we really have nothing to worry about. It took you about 2 weeks to adjust to the new daycare but you have made friends and love going every morning now. You’re learning Spanish, eating vegetables and every time I pick you up at the end of the day you tell me “I had good day”. You really are the best.
Right when we moved in, we transitioned you to a big boy bed. We didn’t even set up the crib or talk about it. We just simply set up the twin bed like it’s always been there an you have slept in it with ease every night and for every nap. This bed was actually the top bunk of my brothers old bunk bed so it has a long railing on the side for when you’re actually sleeping. You always ask for it before you go to bed so you “don’t fall out”. Ugh! My heart! I got the quilt from Land of Nod (when it went on sale after Christmas) and these sheets. The sheets are so soft and the quilt is great quality! His lovey blanket is from Stella and Lu on Etsy and the “Grayson” pillow was a gift from my mom for Christmas!
You’re talking more and more and your vocabulary is impressive. You are constantly making us laugh with what you say. You love making silly faces in the camera. You love playing with trucks and trains (and watching them on the iPad). You eat cheerios on the way to daycare every morning and ask for an apple every night when we come home. You’re learning to share with your friends and understanding that hitting, biting, pinching and grabbing are all things we don’t do ;) You hold my hand wherever we go and always make me/remind me to look for cars as we walk through a parking lot. You put your shoes on the shoe rack where they belong, you have learned to brush your teeth on your own, and you are veryyyyyy close to being potty trained (we will do it soon, I swear!) When did you grow up?!?!
Thanks for being you, kid. You’re going to be the BEST big brother.
I hope you guys start following along again! I can’t wait to show you more of our soon to be family of four! :)
