However, you will need a few things to get you feeling like a normal human being again after your delivery so here is the list I put together for my second time doing this!
Nursing Bra’s – I am bringing two nursing bra’s with me. No one’s got time for uncomfortable wired bras. I wore the Coobie Seamless Scoopneck Bra, White while nursing Grayson and they worked perfectly. I wore them for literally at least 6 months straight as they are so much more comfortable than a regular bra haha! I’ve also heard great things about these and was really close to buying it….. but I’m cheap.
Make-up bag with essentials – I’d keep the make-up to a minimal and just pack the essentials that you wear everyday/make you feel like a human being ;). I’d also throw in these thing…. chapstick, dry shampoo, body lotion, face lotion, toothbrush & toothpaste, facial wipes, shampoo & conditioner (I’d recommend travel size….I didn’t wash my hair when I was there but some people do), and Colace (yeah, you’ll want this). If you plan to breastfeed, I’d also include Lansinoh Breastfeeding Salve – HPA Lanolin and a few Lansinoh Stay Dry Nursing Pads .
Socks, Slippers, and/or flip flops – The hospital provided me with comfortable gripped socks last time so I’m hoping they do the same at this one. I wore these in the room for the first day after delivery. Just in case they don’t provide any for me, I’ll bring a pair I already own. If you’re in search for some, Pembrook Non Skid Socks are great! I didn’t wear slippers at all but some women do. You can grab a nice pair from Target I’m sure. Then I’d pick up or bring a pair of slip on flip flops to wear outside of the room/home.
Loose tank/shirt & pants – this will be your going home outfit. These lounge pants from Target are awesome. I will probably also bring my BLANQI leggings because I’ve worn them for the past 4-6 months and they have been incredible! I could wear either one home. Also any loose tank top or shirt would work depending on the weather!
Electronics – cell phone & charger, camera & charger, computer/iPad (I was induced with Grayson and had a lot of waiting around to do)!
Nursing/Boppy Pillow – I have this on my hospital bag for Maya list as well but it’s just as much for baby as it is for Mama so I’d thought I’d include it here too, just in case. We just ordered the Boppy Nursing Pillow and Positioner – Bare Naked and I got a new cover from here.
Thank you gifts – I make individual thank you gifts for the nurses/staff who helped deliver Grayson but I might just put together a general basket with some favorite snacks and goodies that they can pass around to everyone working that day/night.
I’d also pack your own pillow, actually two, one for Daddy to sleep with too and a blanket for Daddy. I’d bring some of your favorite snacks but make sure they are energy type snacks like protein bars, peanuts, and/or fruit. Keep it light. You’ll probably eat most of the hospitals food anyway!
I don’t think I’m missing anything that I used that time that’s not included but if you have any recommendations on what I really should bring that you don’t see above, please leave a comment!! This little lady is coming so soon!!! :)
