This is kind of out of the norm for me to post about clothes but I’ve recently went on a bit of a shopping spree to gear up for Fall this year. Especially since for the past 9 months, I have been working remote from the comfort of my own home and haven’t had to wear normal/presentable clothes in a long time. Leggings & t-shirts, all day everyday people. However, I recently accepted a new job close to home, so I will be going into an office setting every day again. That being said, I looked in my closet and seriously don’t even know what I used to wear to work. What does a cute outfit even look like? I was overwhelmed and felt like I needed to press the restart button on my closet. I donated the clothes I didn’t love and decided I needed to invest in the basics that I could mix and match into multiple different types of outfits. My style has changed so much since becoming a mom (even more being a mom of 2) and comfort is key. I want basic pieces that I don’t have to think so much about each morning but style and personalize with a different scarf, necklace, cardigan, vest, etc. I have to give credit to a lot of the style bloggers that I follow for pointing me in the direction to many of these pieces but I have realized that there is reason so many people buy & review them. They are truly good quality pieces and staples for your wardrobe. Here are some of my favorite clothing items that I’ve added to my closet and can be intermixed into many different styles & looks. My motto lately – keep it simple. No more staring inside my closet each morning thinking that I have nothing to wear.
Cardigans, Sweaters & Vests:
Women’s Bp. Rib Trim Long Cardigan – seriously…. this cardigan is amazing. And I’m not just saying that. I’m telling you, it’s worth the price. It’s so soft. I got it in black but I also plan to get it in beige. But I mean, the green & red colors are perfect to Fall too soooo…. think my husband would kill me if I got it in every color? haha! I bought a small. Runs kind of big so I’d get your normal size (that’s what I did) or a size smaller.
Old Navy Women’s Open-Front Super-Long Sweater – this is a lighter weight cardigan. Great piece for a warmer day. I love that it lays longer/to your knee. I got a small.
Old Navy Women’s Open-Front Long-Line Sweater – this cardigan is so comfortable and warm. I’d say the heaviness is in-between the Bp. cardigan and the super-long sweater above. This one comes in so many colors but I got it in the Olive Heather (see photo above) color because I think it’s a perfect color for Fall. I got a small/regular and it lays right under by butt so I can still wear it with leggings but if you want it even longer, I’d get a tall.
LOFT Spacedye Sweater Vest – okay, all the fashion bloggers were right about this one. I went and tried this sweater vest on at LOFT this past weekend because everything is 50% off right now(!!!!) It’s one of those pieces that can be thrown over anything and styled in so many ways. I got a medium because it’s the only size they had in the store but I could have probably gotten a small too. I’d say it’s true to size. I also got the grey one (see photo below) but the green is pretty amazing too. I love these greens for Fall this year!
LOFT Cowlneck Tunic Sweater – I am so glad I tried this on in the store! It’s so flattering and it’s the perfect length (covers your butt) for leggings. It’s so cozy and I can’t wait to wear it to work with some tall brown or black boots. You can also pair a puffer vest with it and it would be adorable.
Old Navy Women’s Quilted Frost-Free Vest – if you’re looking for puffer vests, Old Navy has like a gazillion in a ton of colors! Check out these or this camouflage one is perfect (also a bunch of colors).
Basic Tees (for under cardigans/vests):
Women’s Bp. Side Slit Tee – this long sleeve is long & flowy and its perfect for leggings! I got the white in a small. I might try a medium too just to compare the length. I want to get the striped one too. Great staple for just $19 dollars!
Women’s Bp. Raw Edge V-Neck Tee – can you tell I’m loving the Bp. brand yet? haha! Another perfect piece long enough for leggings. I got a small in the grey!
LOFT Long Sleeve Vintage Soft Tee – I tried this on at LOFT too and it’s so soft & comfy. It’s a little more see through so you might want to wear a nude tank underneath but it’s great for under the cardigans & vests and for only $12.50 during the 50% off sale? Yes, please!
Old Navy Womens Luxe Curved-Hem V-Neck Tee – just got this one in the mail and love love love it. It’s super soft and flowy. It’s stretchy material but not the stretchy material that will stretch & stay stretched if that makes sense. Just try it for yourself and you’ll see what I mean! I wanted these a little longer so I got the tall in a size small. It’s on sale for $7 dollars each right now… so go, go!
Women’s Zella Live In High Waist Leggings – I will always recommend these leggings. They are still the best leggings I’ve ever owned and last me at least a year of use, if not more. They also don’t stretch or wear down after a day’s use, which is hard to find in leggings sometimes. The material stays put and literally wear them like 4 days a week haha! I usually get a size medium in these.
LOFT Tall Leggings in Seamed Ponte – I also really liked these when I tried them on so I bought the black just to have another pair to change in and out for work! I got a size 28.
LOFT Tall Leggings in Sateen Five Pocket in Marisa Fit – super cute, super comfortable. I got a size 28 in the green color!
LOFT Tall Modern Skinny Jeans in Dark Indigo – I also snagged a new pair of jeans as this Mama’s hips don’t fit into most of her old ones! ;) I got a size 27 in these.
Women’s Sp Black Distressed High Waist Skinny Jeans – so it seems everyone swears by these jeans, so if you’re looking for distressed jeans, I’d recommend these! I don’t personally have them yet because I can’t wait distressed jeans to work but eventually I might buy these for weekend wear. They have so many good reviews!
Women’s Halogen Corbin Mule – okay, I haven’t jumped on the Mule train yet but I’m kind of obsessed with these and am being told that they actually stay on your feet. I can’t justify spending the money on them yet or my husband will kill me but one day soon! ;) Also – how AMAZING are these Steve Madden Leopard Mules? I need.
Express Women’s Faux Suede Pointed Toe Loafers – I want these. That’s all! If you are a half size, I’d size up to the nearest whole size!
Women’s Sidney Velvet Wide Width & Calf Over the Knee Boots – I’m looking for a good over the knee boot and I’ve heard great things about these pair at Target. I plan to go there soon and try them on. Not a hight heel either, which is perfect for me! Can’t beat $32! ;) Also – the cartwheel app is having 20% off Men’s, Women’s, & Kids’ boots right now… these are $26!
Scarf in pics is from Old Navy!
I got a lot of stuff this weekend at Loft because everything is 50% off right now, which is just amazing. Use code FRIENDS at check out!! :)
