I hope everyone had a great 4th of July holiday! We ended up going to the pool for a bit in the afternoon where Grayson finally let us dunk him completely under water! He’s getting more confident in the pool and it makes me super happy. Swim lessons are in his near future!
After a quick nap, we woke him up and made our way to downtown to explore a few new places that had things set up for the holiday. It was hot. It was rainy. It was humid. But we got a few glow bracelets for when it got dark, so that was cool. Eventually we made our way to a near by Food Lion where we set up our spots on the lawn and waited for the fireworks to start. Maya was incredible and sat comfortably in my arms until she eventually fell asleep around 8:30pm. Grayson was a crazy person who was got super antsy waiting for it to get dark. As were all the kids around us. Sugar filled kids past their bedtimes is a parents worst nightmare. But once the fireworks started, the look on his face made it all worth it. He was mesmerized by them and it makes me happy that he’s able to experience these things. It was after the fireworks ended that made me want to pull my hair out. Over it hour is how long it took for us to get our of that darn parking lot. Never again. At least not for a few years. Next year, fireworks are happening in our back yard with some sparklers. I’m not even sure he’ll know the difference ;)
Here are some photos from our weekend.
