saturday night my parents, kyle and i drove an hour up to longwood gardens in pennsylvania. if you’ve never heard of longwood gardens you should really look into going their with a loved one or your family. especially during christmas time. the lights are unbelievably beautiful and romantic. they had almost every tree wrapped from top to bottom with different colored lights, a fountain show (the fountain also changed colors which was awesome), a garden railroad where trains zipped in and out of tunnels and bridges, and an exhibit hall showing the original plantings of the 1920s where the du Pont family would host their lavish parties and dances.
i was captivated by the smell of the fresh flowers and the twinkle of the bright lights. it is definitely a place i will visit again. it’s also a great place to take little ones, i think. they would love the pretty flowers and the christmas trees on every corner.
i loved it even more because i got to walk arm in arm with kyle. i was with the 3 (missing my brother of course) most important people in my life in a garden full of lights and laughter everywhere we turned. i felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude and love. it couldn’t have gotten any better than that.
here are some photo’s we snapped while walking around. it was dark and it was hard for us to figure out what the best camera setting would be because we really wanted to capture the essence of the lights. sorry we look dark in most of these, i did the best i could!
