I can’t believe my babe is almost a week old! time is flying by and we couldn’t be loving it more.
Seriously this little man is the most wonderful thing on the planet. Before having Grayson I was warned over and over again that I would never sleep again, he would cry non-stop and my favorite quote was, “you just wait.” What does that even mean? I’ll probably jinx us just by saying this and his attitude could do a completely 180 in the next week but so far he is an absolute angel. I’m not even exaggerating either because he is my child. He is so chill and loves everyone. Obviously as a newborn who is only 6 days old, he pretty much cries when he needs to be changed or when he’s hungry. Other than that he just hangs out (usually in his bouncer seat) watching his surroundings or sleeps.
Our first couple of nights have been nothing to complain about either. Thursday night (our first night home) he nursed more often because my milk hadn’t come in yet so he was hungrier. But once it came in on Friday, he’s been consistently eating every 2-2 1/2 hours. I will post more about the adventures of breast feeding later on. It’s been interesting! The past couple of nights he’s only woken up twice to feed (what?!) I feed him around 10pm when we go to sleep and he will wake up pretty much around 2am and then again about 5:30am. Then sleeps in until about 8 or 9. I’m not sure how he does that but I’ll take it while it lasts! (I also try to feed him more during the day so he can make those longer stretches at night).
Things he loves:
+ kisses from mama and daddy
+ the vibration setting on his bouncer and side sleeper
+ the music in his bouncer
+ eating (haha)
+ being rocked
Things he hates:
+ being swaddled (he likes having his arms free so we use mittens and those onsies with the hand covers)
+ sponge baths
+ being naked (he loves being warm and clothed)
Things I love:
+ his tiny little eyebrows are probably my favorite feature right now. Don’t ask me why.
+ he makes the most adorable facial expressions, especially while he’s eating or right after. He just looks so satisfied!
+ his eyes. they are currently a dark blue color but that will probably change in the next couple weeks.
+ his little squeemish newborn sounds.
+ when he gets the hiccups.
I never thought being a mama would be so amazing. I was definitely excited and definitely ready for our bundle of joy to be here but everything about motherhood and about Grayson has exceeded my expectations. He is the love of my life.
^^ our ride home from the hospital where baby held on to my finger the whole time and daddy got us starbucks! 2 days old.
^^ our first outing came saturday at 4 days old. We took him to his first doctors appointment were we were told he looked amazing and we didn’t have to go back for two weeks. Woo hoo! Go baby G! Then we went to Babies R Us to pick up some things we needed. At this point I was getting really tired and needed to head home and rest. Labor sure is a big strain on a woman’s body!
^^ he loves his car seat and the car. He slept the whole time and even a little longer once we got home (this picture was taken when we were back home which is why he’s not strapped in). Then I fed him and took this picture because his face after feeding is the most adorable thing I’ve ever seen. His lips squish together and he has little red marks on one side of his face where he was up against me. It’s kind of amazing.
^^ I took this on day 5 when he fell asleep in my arms. Then at one point he started stretching and yawning and I had to capture his facial expressions. Seriously Grayson, could you get any cuter?!
^^ I see that smirk!
^^ Finally one when he’s not sleeping!! He loves his bouncer especially on the vibration and farm animal settings!
