On Sunday morning, my mom, Grayson and I packed our bags and took a quick three day trip down to Sarasota, Florida to visit Grayson’s great-grandmother (my mom’s mom). The weather was beautiful and it was so nice to see my grandmother swoon over her brand new baby grandson. She was able to watch him play, laugh, explore, and….. cry. But she also go to feed him a bottle a couple of times and I could tell she really loved it. She showed him off to all her friends at the assistant living home she’s currently living in and he was the star of the place. Even though it was a short trip, it was good for us to get Grayson down to see her while he is still so teeny tiny.
I think he had a hard time adjusting the first day because he didn’t nap well and was pretty cranky which wasn’t much fun for Mama. However, the second day was a little better and the third day he was pretty much all smiles for us.
We took him to the beach on Monday for his first beach experience and it was NOT successful. He was so cranky and just barely let me put his toes in the water and then he just started wailing. We had no choice but to turn around and go back home. He’s not a beach baby quite yet. Maybe in a couple of months ;)
Now lets talk about the plane ride. Thank goodness I have such an amazing little boy because I was pretty much freaking out about the plane ride and how he would behave. I really didn’t want to be that young mom with a baby that just wouldn’t stop crying. I read somewhere that nursing your baby while taking off and landing will help with the pressure in their ears (or you can use a pacifier or bottle) and so that is what I did and it worked! His ears never seemed to bother him and on the way there he slept for the first 45 minutes and we just had to entertain him for the other hour and a half (it was about a 2 hour 15 minute plane ride). I did have to stand up and hold him/walk the isle for about 20 minutes but everyone was in awe of him, complimenting on how cute he was so I just stopped and talked to random passengers as the time passed. The way back was even better. I basically nursed him and he slept the entire time. I knew he was tired so whenever he would wake up, I would stick him back on the boob and he’d fall asleep again. We repeated that cycle the entire way back. I was so relieved that he did so well, I could have cried by the end of it. Phew.
I didn’t get many pictures but here are some from our trip if you’re interested!
Hope everyone is having a great week so far! Tomorrow is Friday and we couldn’t be more excited to have daddy with us for another weekend!
