on monday, my mom, kyle and i ventured to washington, d.c. to spend the day walking around. we started around the smithsonian and walked in a large circle stopping at many of the monuments and memorials to take pictures and read about them. i like the new world war II memorial the most i think. since it’s cold out they don’t have the water running in the middle so you can’t dip your feet in (even though you probably wouldn’t want to anyway, brrr). but i really want to take kyle back in the summer so we can do that!
i’ve always liked walking around DC. the city is such a different feel than what i am used too and i love seeing all the different people being touristy too. i love the buildings there too. if you haven’t been there to see them, you should. the detail of the sculptures at the tops of most buildings is incredible. i personally wish they were all still made like that because it is so interesting!
the weather wasn’t bad, nothing i could really complain about other than the wind. it wasn’t as sunny as we would have liked but it didn’t end up raining so that’s a plus. it was about 40 degrees outside but when the wind picked up it got pretty cold. i wasn’t complaining though, i had kyle holding my hand and blocking the wind for me as much as possible :) here are a bunch of pictures we took along the way, taken by my canon t3i DSLR camera.
^^there was a large train track behind the white house. kyle pointed out that he owned some of the exact same toy trucks haha what a nerd.
^^they also had a tree with ornaments representing each state surrounding the bigger tree and the trains so i course we had to find maryland. the ornaments didn’t really make sense and did not represent us that well other than the crab. oh well, they tried.
^^our last stop was the air and space museum, which was kyle’s favorite part of the whole trip. he probably took a gazillion pictures of air planes and missiles on my camera. i liked it because i got to warm up some ;)
